Many residents living in California from San Francisco to Los Angeles had a little bit of a scare when they saw a bright light streaking across the sky on Saturday, November 7.

“There’s been a mysterious light in the skies over California that’s causing social media to go crazy with rumors of a UFO, comet, or perhaps naval test fires near Los Angeles all the way north to San Francisco,” according to www.inquisitr.com.

“A Navy spokesman told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the luminous object was an unarmed Trident missile that was test-fired from a submarine off the coast of Southern California,” according to www.ktla.com. People thinking it was a UFO blew up social media with photos, comments, and videos. Many websites and statements from the Navy are saying it was just a missile test, but some people aren’t buying it.

Examples of some of these statements are:

  • “It turned out to be an unarmed missile fired from a Navy submarine, creating an illumination that whisked across the state and was visible as far away as Nevada and Arizona,” according to www.usatoday.com.

  • “Residents posted a flurry of videos on social media, together with theories of aliens or meteors. Others made panicked calls to law enforcement officials. But not to worry, U.S. military officials said. It was a planned missile test,” conforming to www.cnn.com.

  • “As you may have seen in press and social media reports Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight… The missile was not armed. Strategic Systems Programs does routinely announce missile testing,” the Pentagon issued according to losangeles.cbslocal.com.

“The US military tried to say they fired a rocket and this was that rocket, but I really doubt it. I do believe the military knew tens of thousands of people witnessed the UFO, so they had to make up a story to calm people down. Similar UFOs have been seen over areas of Russia in the past,” stated Scott C. Waring on www.ufosightingsdaily.com.
