Deadly Video Teaches Memorable Lessons

“I would like all the young people out there to take notice and realise that you are not invincible and take seriously how precious your lives are to yourselves and others. I want young drivers to consider how much devastation it causes to the families and loved ones that are left behind,” stated Kat, the mother of Michael Owen, one of the two people killed in a car accident. On April 12 around 12:20 p.m. on Chambers Road in East 25th Place, Crowborough, East Sussex,England.

“If all this stops one person from making the same mistake, then some good has come from showing this video. I’m hoping it will have an impact on young people and make them see that a bit of fun can have such devastating consequences,” stated the mother of Michael Owen, according to aol.com.

That evening both men, ages 20 and 21, were on high cocktail drugs, according to mirror.co.uk. Both men were coming driving back home. The driver Kyle Careford was speeding and Michael Owen was concerned about it. So Michael starting shouting out to Kyle to slow down, the last words that were heard were “Slow down mate we’re doing 90” by Michael Owen, according to aol.com. Moments later a  the car crashed into the church wall.

On average 3,000 people are killed or seriously injured each year in drink drive collision, according to drinkdrivingfacts.com. In 2013, 10,076 people died in drunk driving crash. That is one every 52 minutes, according to madd.org.

Now their families are telling young people not to do what Michael and Kyle decided to do.
