The ShamRock’n Run Hosts its 10th Annual Fun Run

The PYLUSD REACH Foundation, which has earned money for schools across the district, is again sponsoring its 10th annual “ShamRock’n Run,” on March 20, 2022 at Yorba Regional Park from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The event includes a 5k timed run and a 2k run or walk. Fees for participants range from a $31 race fee and $2.80 sign up fee for the 5k and age based pricing for the 2k. The price will be increased to $36.00 after February 20, 2022. A newly added event is the new Square Course. There is a $26 race fee and a $2.51 sign up fee. Select your school when registering and have a chance to win the Shamrock’n Run Perpetual Trophy.

Participants can also create a team using this link. The teams can be classmates, neighbors, and/or coworkers. According to the website, “Invite them on your TEAM on a healthy adventure with a great cause helping PYLUSD schools!”

In addition to the running events, the REACH foundation is also sponsoring a pancake breakfast (free with registration), community business expo, leprechaun lounge, and a DJ.

The community expo showcases local businesses with booths displaying products and services. The REACH foundation offers booths and  a 10×10 table and 2 chairs for $125 and an additional $50 for a canopy, as well as a free pancake breakfast.

High school students interested in earning community service hours can volunteer for the run. According to the website, sign ups will open 4-8 weeks prior to the event. Students volunteering will involve packet pick up distribution prior to the run and setting up and tearing down the day of the run.

Another event the REACH Foundation sponsors is the middle school track meet located at the Shapell Stadium in Yorba Linda High School. This event will happen in the 2021-2022 school year. According to the   link, “The Middle School Track Meet has introduced thousands of students to outdoor sports and Track and Field.”

BYMS Principal, Mrs.Fisher, says the benefits of registering are the fun you will have with friends, and, “having the opportunity to engage in a healthy activity.”
