Kodi Lee Chosen as “America’s Got Talent” Winner

The singer, who diagnosed as autistic and legally blind, outpaced contestants in nationwide voting .

Twenty-two year old Kodi Lee from Tooele Utah persevered to reach his singing dreams and was chosen as the Season 14 winner of America’s Got Talent with his final performance of “Without You” by Freya Ridings on Sept. 18 on NBC, according to CBS News.

“Heck yeah, I’m a winner,” is what the musician said with full confidence when a crew worker of the show him if he thought he would win $1 million dollars by signing on the show. The vote was conducted by the people, they could download the AGT app and vote live. After battling through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, he sung “Lost Without You” and he in fact won the $1 million dollars on Sept. 18, 2019 in the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

According to goodhousekeeping.com, Kodi Lee was born in Utah on July 7, 1996. At the young age of  three months, he was diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia, a visual disorder that had caused him legal blindness, at age four, he was diagnosed with autism.

 NBC.com reports that Lee  first premiered on  the show on May 28, 2019 where he received the golden buzzer by actress Gabrielle Union who along with Howie Mendel, Simon Cowell, and Julliane Hough compromise the judging panel. 

As a result he was fast tracked to the live shows where he competed against some of the most talented performers across the globe. Lees’s parents, Tina and Eric Lee, broke down into tears as the judges gave their son  the golden buzzer. His mother is one of his top supporters and is so proud of him.

“He’s been working so hard and he made it all the way,” Tina Lee called out to GoodHousekeeping.com to tell about his show so far. Simon Cowell stated that Lee’s  performances were “Absolutely extraordinary!”

Lee  has been singing and playing piano at local restaurants, wineries, and other music festivals around his hometown in Utah as stated on the singer’s website,  KodiLee.org.
