Jackie Chan, an actor who is known for his action and fighting films, and has been in retirement since 2012, has surprised his fans by jumping back into another action/thriller film, The Foreigner, (playing the role of, Quan Ngoc Minh) which debuted in theatres on October 13.
According to IMDb, this rated R movie is about, “A humble businessman with a buried past seeks justice when his daughter is killed in an act of terrorism. A cat-and-mouse conflict ensues with a government official, whose past may hold clues to the killers’ identities, The movie stars` Jackie Chan, Rufus Jones, and Katie Leung.
Jackie Chan began his movie career as a low-wage stuntman and working with the very famous Bruce Lee. After working for five decades in the movie industry, last year Jackie Chan finally received an Oscar for his work in the department.
Chan was surprised by the honor, and stated, “I only make cheap action movies, comedy, I never thought I could get an Oscar,” he stated in an interview with NPR.
Chan went into retirement, because after the 57 years of martial arts, Jackie Chan felt he wasn’t as fast as he was before. Also, according to Chan as reported in an interview with NPR , “I really, really hope one day I can make a drama film without one punch. Even in China, it is difficult. They’re just not used to it.”
