Yorba Linda High Schools Theater Department Performs Legally Blonde

Light, camera, action! The Yorba Linda High School Theater Department is performing the classic Broadway show, Legally Blonde on March 24-26 at the PYLUSD Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm.

Rose Pell, performing as Enid, stated “I love how there is so much energy, and we are all so connected, which makes performing even more exciting. I just love performing, and I couldn’t be happier to be in this well directed production of Legally Blonde.”

The show is about a sorority star, Elle Woods, who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone “serious,” Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Cooper Summers, a member of the ensemble, says, “You get so much out of being with this cast. They always support you, no matter what. There are so many talented people in the cast, and we have a great director.”

The director, Catherine Petz, explains what it’s like to be in the show and what classes future high school drama students should take.

“We have several different classes that incoming freshman can take, including beginning theatre, musical theatre, and intermediate theatre.” She also informs us on what it’s like to be a part of the theatre department.

“It is a place where students will find a home, learn a lot about all aspects of theatre, and make some of the best friends they’ll ever have!” Petz explained.

Some of the cast members gave insight on their favorite aspects in partaking this activity. Quentin Valenica, performing as Emmett, says “Its like working on a huge, fun project with your extended family. There is always tons of fun, and never a dull moment.”

Their final performances are coming up, so be sure to go, it’s an event you don’t want to miss! “I love being with this cast, they are all so positive, and great to work with. The experience of being in a new theatre, gives us a sense of the professional atmosphere we will hopefully find in college” says Gino Roberto, performing as Kyle.

Mrs. Petz explained how excited she is for all of the casts’ hard work to hit the stage one last time. “I have had a great time directing this show. This is such a talented cast, and its been great having so many new faces in the show this year. This is the first time we have performed at the District Performing Arts Center, so I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to direct in this venue, and to see the cast perform on this stage.”
