Tired of staying home and watching new years celebration on tv from your couch? Head out the door this New Years eve, and head to Fullerton to experience “First Night” an evening of fireworks, food, and live entertainment in downtown Fullerton on December 31 from 7pm to 12pm.
Free to the public, “First Night” offers something for everyone of all ages includingLive Entertainment by James Intveld, Los Fabulocos featuring Kid Ramos, Deke Dickerson and the Eccofonics and The Help, according to cityoffullerton.com. Activities for kids include bounce houses, a trackless train, face painting and balloon art food, and a fireworks show at midnight.
The “First Night” program began in Boston in 1976 as a way to celebrate the nation’s bicentennial. The event’s goal is to” broaden public appreciation of the visual and performing arts while offering an alternative to the traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations which focus on alcohol and drinking,” stated the website.
Several hundred “First Night” cities celebrate similar events throughout the United States and Canada. Fullerton was the first California city to offer the event, and is the only Orange County community to present a “First Night” celebration this year, according to cityoffullerton.com.
