Breaking Bad Prequel to Air on AMC

A new prequel to the dark, critically acclaimed television drama Breaking Bad is being filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is going to air on AMC sometime in 2014, reported Yahoo! Finance.

Many intriguing shows are currently airing on AMC, such as The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad (which recently came to a close). After hearing about the possibility to a spin-off for Breaking Bad, AMC immediately picked it up and made an agreement with Sony Pictures Television to add the new show to their program, reported CBS News.

“As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul,” AMC reported via CBS News. Saul Goodman was the clever criminal lawyer of high school chemistry teacher turned meth lord Walter White, and his junkie cooking partner Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad.

Bob Odenkirk, who plays the role of Saul, recently said that he wanted Better Call Saul to be both a prequel and a sequel. He stated on, “I’d like to see what happens before and what happens after. I don’t know what they’ll do with that… but that’s what I’d like to see.”

According to Odenkirk, the creator of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, has been talking to him about the spin-off for quite a while. “Vince has been talking to me for three years…they told me some of the other characters and situations, and it was very intriguing-very new and fresh. I’m thrilled,” he said in an interview on The Daily Beast.

At this year’s Emmy awards ceremony, Breaking Bad  won the trophy for the “Outstanding Drama” category, informed CNN News. Bryan Cranston, who portrayed Walter White, exclaimed after the show’s victory, “I’ve been blessed in the past and this show has been nominated in the past, but what I really wanted was what we got, to celebrate the win for the writing crew and the ca.
