Amusement Park Review: Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Knott’s Berry Farm may have haunted mazes and Disneyland has their legendary fireworks, but nobody brings real magic to the table like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Based on the New York Times bestseller and located in Orlando Florida, this Harry Potter themed amusement park gives off the atmosphere and feel of what magic would really feel like. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers rides that give park guests  an experience as if they were a real wizard at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey takes visitors on a thrilling adventure through Hogwarts. According to universalorlando.com, this ride will take guests into iconic rooms, such as Dumbledore’s office, the Defense against the Dark Arts Room, Gryffindor Common Room, Room of Requirement, and many more famous locations in the book series.

This park also offers Flight of the Hippogriff, a high speed adventure designed for the younger wizards.

For the older wizards, the Dragon Challenge is a high speed roller coaster made for thrill seekers.  Two different roller coasters with completely different tracks are included in the Dragon Challenge. The Chinese Fireball is the more intense version of the ride, while the Hungarian Horntail tends to be the tamer one.

Not only does this amusement park offer rides, but also shops for park visitors to stalk up on wizardry supplies. In Hogsmeade, Zonko’s is the iconic shop for magical novelty items, jokes, and toys, such as Extendable Ears, Nosebleed Nougat, Fever Fudge, and Sneakascopes.

Also included in Hogsmeade is Honeydukes, a legendary candy shop for treats such as, Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavor Beans and Chocolate Frogs, according to universalorlando.com. In addition, guests can  buy wizarding supplies for  their visit at Olivander’s, Dervish and Banges, and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.

For a dining experience, visit the Three Broomsticks, where food is always available. There guests can try such English treats like, blood sausage, English muffins, and butterbeer. Not only is the iconic butterbeer a treat in store there, but also pumpkin juice.

Shows and other entertainment include the Triwizard Spirit Rally, where wizards from Durmstrang, Beauxbatoms, and Hogwarts demonstrate their wizarding ability to spectators.

Also included is a Frog Choir, where students from each house (Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherine, and Hufflepuff) perform songs with their frogs; according to universalorlando.com.

Although there is so much in store at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter already,  planned expansions  include, Diagon Alley, and a real life Hogwarts express to connect Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade. In addition, a Harry Potter themed park will be coming  to Universal Studios, Hollywood.

Fans of Harry Potter, young and old, are sure to enjoy this ‘magical’ theme park experience.
