After 14 years in the NFL, former NFL quarterback Tony Romo announced his retirement from the NFL on April 3rd. Tony Romo will go on to be a broadcaster for CBS, according to espn.com.

“It was a very difficult decision. I went back and forth a number of times,” stated Romo in a conference. He will take the place of long-time broadcaster Phil Simms, according to nfl.com.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in 30 years as a sports addict and a decade studying the media, it’s that being good at sports doesn’t automatically make one a good sports analyst,” Romo said in an interview with awfulannouncing.com.

Romo attended to the Dallas Mavericks’ March 11 practice and later was honored during the lineups at the game for what he has done for Dallas. Romo has scored 248 touchdowns and over 34,00 passing yards while playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Many of Romo’s teammates from the Dallas Cowboys attended the game, according to sportsday.com.

Although retiring on April 3rd, Romo was unable to play get a contract to play in the March 11th game because Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks’, did not give him a contract according to normangeestar.net.
