Humans have produced more plastic in the last 10 years than we did in the whole last century. Plastic pollution has become a man-made global catastrophe Most of our plastic is now in the ocean killing too much fish and mammal according to plastic oceans.org.

More than 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year.  We are now producing nearly 300 million tons of plastic every year, half of which is single years, according to the Container Recycling Institute, 100.7 billion plastic beverage bottles were sold in the United States in 2016, or 315 bottles per person according to plastic oceans.org.

A professor at the University of Waterloo suggested there could be at least half-a-million pieces of plastic per square kilometer n some parts of the Great Lakes, equivalent to 2,500 pieces of plastic per area the size of a football field. Per the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, nearly 100,000 marine mammals have garbage/plastic deaths each year according to universe.com.

Humans, of course, litter and throw garbage/plastic in the ocean. All the Plastic we throw in the ocean is affecting us humans and killing many ocean life. It is affecting humans because the fish eat the plastic and people eat fish, so humans can be eating plastic like fish and mammals according to Anaheim.am.ubm.com

“No water, no life. No blue, no green,” stated Dr. Sylvia Earle.
