OC Crime Rate Down But Burglaries Go Up

Burglaries are on the rise in Orange County, although overall crime rates decreased by 4% in 2016, according to ocregister.com.
Robbers have been recently taking walks in Fullerton neighborhoods at night, pulling on the doors of residents’ cars. If the cars are unlocked, the robbers take valuables according to ocregister.com
Local police have been placing fliers on cars, simply stating that if a resident sees anything suspicious they are encouraged to report it to their local police.
In 2017 in Yorba Linda, 39 violent crimes and 652 property crimes were reported, according to neighborhoodscout.com.
In recent weeks, celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Nicki Minaj have had their homes robbed. Kendall Jenner “was robbed blind of approximately $200k on Wednesday, March 15,” stated hollywoodlife.com.
Many home burglaries are “crimes of opportunity” where burglars choose easy targets such as doors that are unlocked or windows that are left open.

Make your home look occupied and hard to break into.
Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed.
Keep lights on when you leave the house.
Keep all gates and garage doors closed and locked.
Don’t allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers build up while you are away.
